Eclipse Plugin
Protector4J can be used directly from Eclipse. The plugin adds a Protector4J toolbar button and menu entry that open the Protector4J GUI, and a Protect with Protector4J... action to the right-click menu of .jar, .war and p4j-task*.yml files — the GUI opens with that file preloaded: a .war goes straight to the Tomcat flow, a task file lands on the final review page.
Installation
The update site is:
https://protector4j.com/eclipse/
In Eclipse open Help → Install New Software..., add the URL above and select Protector4J. Works on Eclipse 2022-06 (4.24) and newer.
How it finds Protector4J
An installed Protector4J desktop application is used when present (macOS /Applications, the Windows installer location). Otherwise the plugin downloads the official release on first use and verifies it against a checksum built into the plugin before running it.
Preferences
Preferences → Protector4J lets you point the plugin at a specific Protector4J installation, choose the download region (protector4j.com / protector4j.cn) and manage the download cache.
Standalone version
The desktop application is the same GUI and remains available from the download page.
